Dinner with Ipswich Crown Court Judge Martyn Levett

This is an exclusive chance to listen to Judge Levett as he comments on the problems from the last year, public duty, the transformation of the Crown Court system and his role at Ipswich Crown Court as Resident Judge.

Martyn Levett has lived in Suffolk for 45 years. He first qualified in Chemical Engineering from Leeds University and then in Law.

He was called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in 1978. He practiced as
a barrister from local Chambers and Red Lion Chambers in London.

From 2000 he sat in the Crown Court as a Recorder and was authorised to sit at the Central Criminal Court in 2010 until he was appointed a Circuit Judge on 9th March 2015.

He was appointed Resident Judge of Ipswich Crown Court on 16th November 2017 and Honorary

Recorder of Ipswich on 24th July 2019

Toby Kramers

Committee Chair

Toby was brought up in Suffolk and, after a brief spell at University and working in London, returned to Ipswich to work in a legal practice in Ipswich in the 1990s where he has worked ever since as a solicitor specialising in Commercial Property.

Outside of work, Toby enjoys politics (he was Chairman of and remains involved in the South Suffolk Conservative Association), singing (he has performed with the Essex University Choir) and country sports. He is involved in a number of local charities.
