A Special Visit to Clay1A with Crispin Kelly

Following his fascinating talk to the Business Club last November, Crispin Kelly has kindly invited us to return to CLAY 1A and see the exciting progress being made on Ipswich’s waterfront.

CLAY 1A is a new visitor attraction celebrating the many ways in which clay touches our lives – from hands-on making our favourite mugs to sanitary ware, mantelpieces and works of art.

Since the Ipswich Ceramic Foundation acquired the former Ashtons headquarters in 2025, the building has been stripped back to its original warehouse shell, with the main building contract due to begin this November. Our visit comes at a particularly exciting point in the project, offering members and guests a rare opportunity to step inside before the next major phase of construction gets underway.

Join us on Friday 2nd October at 6.00pm for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the building, hear more about the vision for CLAY 1A and discover how this remarkable new attraction is taking shape ahead of its planned opening in 2028.
