Lunch with James Potter
James Potter is the UK Managing Director for Zenon Group, which includes Superstructures – the business he founded and led for 15 years.
Zenon is a Canadian based building engineering and consulting organisation with 300+ employees across 16 locations. In the UK, the consulting business provides MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing), Structural and Civil engineering, as well as sustainability and energy master planning and consultation.
James studied a degree in Industrial Design and Technology at Loughborough University, before unintentionally side stepping into structural engineering. After his initial employment and retraining he started Superstructures from his spare bedroom in 2011 and grew the business to 20 people based in Ipswich, mainly servicing the South East of England.
In April this year Superstructures became part of the Zenon Group and James’s focus is now bringing the 2 UK businesses together, alongside managing growth and diversification.
James has lived in central Ipswich for the last 20 years. In his spare time, he is still a keen cyclist, having retired from competitive time trialling and he also runs his beloved side hustle – The Suffolk Bowl Company.
