Lunch with Nick Burrows

Nick Burrows is the CEO of Notcutts the Suffolk based company with 19 garden centres across the UK, an e-commerce operation and a portfolio of farms, commercial properties and land holdings. Nick joined Notcutts in 2015 to lead a business transformation programme which has included the recruitment and development of a new leadership team; the extensive redevelopment of Notcutts garden centres and restaurants; the modernisation of the Notcutts brand and company culture; and a series of acquisitions and disposals.

Prior to joining Notcutts Nick held a series of leadership roles including Chairman of First Sports Group; Managing Director of Nuffield Health Fitness and Wellbeing; and Sales, Marketing and Customer Service Director roles at Whitbread, Rank Group and Holmes Place Health Clubs.

Nick grew up in Woodbridge and is “Suffolk through and through”. He is a keen supporter of Suffolk community projects and has served as Vice Chairman and Trustee at Ipswich Town Community Trust and Inspire Suffolk. Through Notcutts he now oversees support towards the goals of the Green Light Trust and Suffolk Mind.

Notcutts recently won two awards of which Nick is especially proud. The Best Employers’ Eastern Region award for best retail and hospitality business; and the Planet Mark high commendation award for employee engagement on their environmental, biodiversity and sustainability programmes. Notcutts also designed and created the new Garden of Remembrance for Ipswich Town Football Club at Portman Road.
